Happy Sunday! We had another fun week in kindergarten! Be sure to scroll down and see some pictures from our week together! Mrs. Cardinal Kiss and I are loving every minute with your sweet kiddos and their fun personalities are really starting to shine through.
Thursday 09/20 is picture day, Our pictures are early in the morning to avoid sweaty recess face! Next Friday 09/21 is Grandparents Day. The morning will begin in the gym with refreshments and a brief assembly. Following that, Grandparents will be escorted by their grandchild to his/her classroom for an activity. We hope you will join us in making some great memories! If you haven't already please RSVP here. Here's a look at what we will be doing next week.
Spalding: This week we will learn the phonograms r, t, u, v while continuing to review all previous learned phonograms. Please continue to assist your child with their nightly homework. Friday’s test will consist of the first 10 phonograms.
Sight Words: are, as, with, his. In addition to Spalding homework please review your child’s sight word list. Their sightword lists should be kept inside their book bag and brought to school each day.
Literature: We will begin to explore Aesop’s Fables by starting with "the Dog and His Shadow.” We will identify the elements of a fable and examine the moral of each fable we read. The weekly poem will be Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone.
Math: We are continuing our unit on numbers to 10. We will work on numbers 6-10 this week. We will incorporate numeral cards, ten frames, and an abacus. Students also have 10 connecting cubes in their desk that we pull out and work with regularly.
History and Geography: We will begin the week learning some mapping skills. Students will learn the directional names North, South, East, and West. Next we will learn that we live in the United States of America which in on the continent of North America. Students will be able to find North America on the world map. We will begin talking about US symbols like the White House and Mount Rushmore.
