Week 38- Last Week of Kindergarten!

Can you believe we made it to the last week of kindergarten?! I guess time flies when your having fun. A couple quick reminders as we prepare for the last days before summer. Look for summer a review packet coming home with your child on Tuesday. It would be good practice to review a couple pages a week and continue to read nightly. Your child's t-shirt for promotion will come home with them on Wednesday. Your child may wear this shirt on Friday with their uniform bottoms. Our Promotion Ceremony is this Thursday 05/23, refer to the email previously sent for more detailed information.
We had our end of the year staff get together this weekend! Mrs. Worthy and I got to pose for a belly pic! <3
Both Baby W's.. soon to be best of friends!

Happy 6th Birthday Bernardo!

Happy Friday families! I hope you all had a fabulous week and are looking forward to the weekend. Please remember to submit book orders by Monday! Order online at https://clubs.scholastic.com  and use our class code QDR6N.
Happy 6th Birthday Donovan!

Please be sure on homework you are dictating the words to your child, they should not be copying the words from the list. Thank you for your support!

Sight Words:We have now learned all of our sight word lists so we will use this time to review.

Literature:  This week we will continue our adventures with Little Bear.  Students are doing an excellent job following along in their books and taking turns reading aloud. We will continue to practice writing sentences using Little Bear as inspiration for our writing.  Our poem will be Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Math:
Now that we have learned about numbers to 100, we will discuss what even and odd numbers are.  We will do this by grouping items by twos and noticing that sometimes they always have a partner, and sometimes they don’t.  Students will be able to tell when seeing a number, whether it is even or odd.
Students will be introduced to fractions.  They will start by identifying equal parts.  We will use some yummy food to help us understand equal parts.  We will then discuss a half and a fourth.  On Friday, we will have a little pizza party to finalize our unit on fractions.

Science: We will be learning about animals and their needs this week. Students will discuss the difference between living things and non-living things and what living things need to survive. We will talk about tame animals and pets as well as wild animals. Later in the week we will begin an exploration of space. Scholars will learn more about the sun and the moon.
