Week 11- October 22-October 26 ( No School Monday)

Happy Sunday Families! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. Jay and I spend a day at Schnepf Farms and it was perfect! Now I want a baby goat! hehe They were so cute! I cannot wait to start reading with your child this week! Please be sure they come to school with their yellow book bag every day.

Spalding: We will begin our two letter phonograms this week, we kindly ask that you please do not teach ahead on the phonograms.  We will introduce “sh, ee, th, and ow” phonograms over the week and you will see them on the nightly homework.  We will continue to work on word sounds and syllables. You can practice this skill at home by giving your child a simple CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) word; can, dog, mat, etc, then ask your child to give each sound of the word.
Sight Words: Review list 2

Literature: Our story this week will be “Chicken Little,” a numbskull tale about a foolish chicken. Our poem will be “Baa Baa Black Sheep." We will begin reading with students daily so please be sure your child brings their book bag each day. We will also begin reading groups this week so if you have not signed up to volunteer please reach out to me to help.

Math:
Continuing our lesson on shapes, we will introduce 3D shapes: cone, rectangular block, cylinder, cube, and sphere.  We will find every day items that look like these shapes, and an assessment will be taken on Friday.

History and Science: This week we will spend some time learning all about farms. We will get to know more about pigs and cows as well as how crops grow. On Friday, we will have a special guest from the Arizona Farm Bureau join us to do a presentation all about pumpkins!
