Week 33- April 15- April 19

Happy Friday Families! We had a fun week in kindergarten and the kiddos even earned themselves a popcorn party! Last weekend I traveled to Wisconsin to see my family and my mommy and sisters threw me a little, sweet baby shower. What a perfect weekend! There is no school this Friday or the following Monday.

Spalding:
This week we will continue to review phonograms 1-70.  Our words this week will be: fur, green, oil, paint, tooth, teeth, worm, pool, day, eat. Note, our Spalding assessment will be on Thursday since there is no school on Friday.

Literature: Our story this week will be the fairy tale  “The Princess and the Pea.” We will review the elements of a fairy tale and discuss the problem and solution the prince is faced with. Our poem this week will be “She Sells Seashells."

Math:Students will understand ways to measure time, starting with day and night.  We will learn to read a clock to the hour. This is a great time to work with your child at home and ask them to tell time.  They may also wear a watch to school, as long as it is not a smart watch.

History and Geography: We will continue to learn about the continent of South America this week.  Students will get to enjoy samba music from Brazil and we will compare the Columbian pledge of allegiance with the US pledge. The kids will even get to taste some authentic arepas! Lastly, we will review the various habitats we have explored so far this year.
