Week 35- April 29-May 3

Happy Friday! Our last Scholastic book order of the year will be going home on Monday. Check your child's green folder on Monday for the flyer or order online now at https://clubs.scholastic.com use our class code QDR6N. This is a great opportunity to stock up on some summer reading books.
Don't forget our concert is this coming Wednesday 05/01, I can't wait for you to see what your children have been working so hard on.
The Penny War will continue all next week, ending Friday.
Happy 6th Birthday Ethan!

Here's a look at next week:

Spalding: We will continue to review phonograms and specifically focus on the 10 listed on your child’s homework. Our spelling words will be: soft, stands, stand, yard, bring, tell, five, ball, law, ask.

Sight Words: We will use this week to review list 10. I forgot to send home list 9 so I will add that one next week as well.

Literature: We are continuing our unit on the Little Bear Series by finishing “Little Bear," and starting "Little Bear’s Visit." Students are writing a journal about each chapter to share with you after we finish the series. Our poem will be "A Wise Owl."

Math:We are working on numbers to 100.  We are first going to look at numbers by groups of ten. Ten groups of ten equals 100.  We will then practice writing numbers to 100 and counting by 5s and 2s.
Counting by 5s, 10s, and 2s is a great thing to do in the car to and from school.
Thursday and Friday, we will work on graphing and counting.

Science: This week we will learn all about chickens! Students will get to observe real chicken eggs in an incubator over the next 21 days while we wait for them to hatch! Throughout the week we will explore more about the life cycle of a chicken, as well as the parts of a chicken and chick. Students will get to write a sentence that is fact and one that is opinion about chickens.
